Blackpink’s Rosé Is A Saint Laurent Ambassador For A New Era

When Yves Saint Laurent founded his eponymous brand in 1960s Paris, the most recognisable women in the world quickly fell in love with his Left Bank chic meets haute bohemian aesthetic. Those same women would go on to inspire the designer, with Catherine Deneuve, Paloma Picasso, and the pioneering Black supermodel Mounia all becoming his muses.

More than 50 years on, the house established by the late designer still nurtures close relationships with stylish stars. Creative director Anthony Vaccarello has found inspiration in a new generation of chic young women – the latest being Rosé, star of the K-pop supergroup Blackpink.

The musician has made no secret of her love for the house (she’s attended two of its Paris Fashion Week shows and frequently totes its trophy handbags on her travels), but now her relationship with Saint Laurent has been solidified – and what a position to be in. She follows in the footsteps of Kate Moss, Zoë Kravitz, Debbie Harry, Cara Delevingne and Courtney Love, all of whom have served as Saint Laurent ambassadors and muses.

The K-pop idol stars in a new photoshoot and video that dropped this week, and serves as Saint Laurent’s autumn/winter 2020 campaign (see it IRL on the back cover of the August issue of British Vogue). In it the 23-year-old models the new collection, including a perfect lace LBD, and a signature pussy-bow shirt reworked with a more contemporary rock ‘n’ roll leopard print.

Now that her ambassador role has been made official, we can expect to see many more Saint Laurent looks from Rosé in the future. Until then, here are some of our favourites to date.
